Of course, being located over 900m above the surrounding plains offers many points to capture the stunning vistas, at all different times of the day.

There’s plenty of native animals at the Bunya Mountains to photograph, and to make it even better, you’ll be able to find many of them right on your doorstep! The wallaby mob who live at the Bunya Mountains is legendary, and they are friendly, used to human interaction and quite willing to pose for some delightful photos! As well, you’ll find plenty of other native animals, including some unusual varieties, to photograph. Echidnas and lace monitors are often seen roaming the area, and at night-time you’ll be able to spot plenty of nocturnal varieties such as possums, gliders, bats and native rodents. Plus, keep an eye out for the butterfly migrations in spring – a spectacular sight!

The Bunya Mountains is home to a huge variety of birdlife, some varieties of which are endangered or rare. Of course, you’ll need specialised equipment to capture truly great shots of the hundreds of different birds winging their way around the mountain, but the outcome will be well worth your time and effort. There are some spectacular, colourful and unusual birds present at the Bunya Mountains, and with patience and time you’ll be able to get some amazing photographs. Keep an eye out for the intriguing and bright bower bird nests, as well as the many hawks, eagles, kites and other birds of prey. As well, the many friendly crimson rosellas and king parrots are likely to flock to your balcony and perch on your head, shoulders and hands, making for some unique and heart-warming shots.

The extensive rainforest filled with towering, stately trees, stands of ancient bunya pines, waterfalls, rock pools, ferns and a huge variety of plant life is the ideal place to take some majestic photos.
